This morning, while waiting for our teens to flutter their sleepy eyes, I visited a site called 3dinosaurs, via Deb Chitwood, a lovely preschool teacher and writer. Cassie, the home schooling mum who authors 3 dinosaurs (check out her pinterest boards) creates helpful postables and printables for early education.
Handwriting is important for elementary age brain development. In one study, handwriting was a predictor of academic success. Yet, in schools we are so pressed to teach “content” handwriting is left behind. These printables can help you not only aide your child in handwriting development but also make math and reading more fun. Take a gander, print things out and enjoy what these creative and generous moms have created for families.
Practice these “pre-writing skills” with older children as well, they are not just for preschoolers. Have the older kids use their non-preferred hand. Have them follow the lines backwards as well, this is all terrific for brain development.
